What is the Project 2025 Agenda?

Donald Trump's plans for a full-scale government takeover have come to light. Keep reading to see the details for yourself, and share this information with others.

His Project 2025 agenda aims to roll back personal freedoms.

This initiative, crafted by former Trump administration officials, outlines a strategy for the first 180 days of a potential new term.

The plan begins with a broad restructuring of the federal government, concentrating power under Donald Trump. Its purpose becomes evident within its pages of detailed policy proposals.

According to an analysis of his campaign policies and discussions with individuals close to him, Trump and his allies seek to shift the balance of power, expanding presidential control over every branch of government that, by law or long-standing practice, has functioned with some degree of independence from White House influence. (New York Times, July 17, 2023).

Project 2025 is A Plan to Take Control of the Federal Government

First, they would make it easier to fire non-partisan government employees, just as they attempted at the end of Trump's previous administration.

Reimplement Trump’s Schedule F executive order to allow the removal of employees deemed underperforming. (Project 2025, A Mandate for Leadership, p. 535)

Next, they would replace these employees with political appointees who are loyal to Trump.

A modern conservative president’s role is to limit, control, and direct the executive branch. The key challenge is the need for aggressive use of executive power... Achieving this will require boldness to reshape or dismantle the bureaucracy to align with the president's vision. (p. 43-44)

They would also eliminate the independence of the Department of Justice and the FBI…

Conservatives have long believed in either eliminating the law enforcement role of independent agencies or stripping them of their independent status. (p. 873)

…and turn them into political tools of the White House.

The next conservative administration must expand the number of political appointees in every office, particularly in the Civil Rights Division, the FBI, and the EOIR. (p. 569)

The FBI should be placed under leadership that is politically accountable. (p. 549)

According to Reuters (May 17, 2024), some of Trump’s allies are working on proposals to reduce the Justice Department’s independence and transform it into an enforcement arm for conservative causes.

Meanwhile, Trump would be shielded from legal consequences for actions taken while in office, thanks to a ruling from the Supreme Court justices he appointed.

Plan to Give MAGA Extremists Control Over Your Life

Trump and his Project 2025 allies have already overturned Roe v. Wade, leading to extreme abortion bans across the country. Now, they plan to go even further.

They intend to impose a nationwide abortion restriction without Congress, using legal loopholes to criminalize providers.

Launching a campaign to enforce criminal prohibitions under 18 U.S. Code §§ 1461 and 1462. (p. 562)

Project 2025 seeks to revive the Comstock Act, a 19th-century law, to implement a federal abortion ban and prosecute healthcare providers. (p. 459)

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation (4/15/24), a strict reading of the Comstock Act could outlaw materials used for all abortion procedures, not just medication-based ones, without exceptions. It could also impact medical care for miscarriages.

They will ban abortion medication and restrict reproductive healthcare.

Project 2025 calls for banning abortion pills, which are widely used to safeguard women’s health in various medical situations.

Abortion medication is the greatest threat to unborn children in a post-Roe era… The FDA should revoke its approval of chemical abortion drugs. (p. 457)

They would also force states to report miscarriages and abortions to the federal government.

Project 2025 would leverage funding to require states to track and report all abortions within their borders, including the reasons for each procedure. (p. 455)

They will limit access to contraception.

They plan to restrict access to birth control and allow employers to deny coverage.

The president should remove the week-after pill from the contraceptive mandate due to its potential abortifacient properties. (p. 485)

Employers should have the right to deny workers access to birth control coverage. (p. 483-85)

Defunding Planned Parenthood, which provides contraception access to more than 2 million women annually. (p. 471).

They will strip protections for life-saving medical care.

Project 2025 also aims to roll back protections for women’s access to emergency medical care.

The president should undo pro-abortion interpretations added to the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act. (p. 473)

They will enable discrimination against LGBTQ+ Americans.

They would remove protections that prevent discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and other sex-related characteristics.

The president should instruct federal agencies to rescind regulations that classify sex discrimination as including sexual orientation, gender identity, or transgender status. (p. 584)

Project 2025 lays out a radical agenda that would strip away personal freedoms and impose restrictive policies nationwide.

Project 2025 is a Plan to Benefit Trump and His Wealthy Allies

Project 2025 would cut taxes for the wealthy while shifting the burden onto middle-class families.

The corporate income tax should be lowered to 18 percent. (p. 696)

The plan would restructure the tax code to favor wealthy families. (p. 696)

Millions of low- and middle-income households could see higher taxes under these policies. According to CBS News (7/12/24), a middle-class family earning $100,000 with two children could face an additional $2,600 in federal income taxes due to a proposed 15% flat tax, which eliminates the 10% and 12% tax brackets. If the Child Tax Credit were removed, their tax burden could rise by $6,600. Meanwhile, a married couple earning $5 million a year could receive a $325,000 tax cut under the same plan.

They plan on boosting big pharma by eliminating prescription drug price caps.

Project 2025 would end price caps on prescription drugs for seniors and block Medicare from negotiating lower prices with pharmaceutical companies.

Reverse harmful healthcare policies passed under the Obama and Biden administrations, including the Inflation Reduction Act. (p. 465)

The Medicare drug price negotiation program should be repealed. (p. 465)

They will weaken Medicare and Social Security.

Trump has previously stated his willingness to cut Medicare and Social Security.

When asked about reducing entitlement programs, Trump responded, Oh, we’ll be cutting, and later reiterated, There’s a lot you can do in terms of cutting.

He has referred to Social Security as a Ponzi scheme, supported raising the retirement age, and has been open to privatizing the program.

They will slash overtime pay and worker protections.

Project 2025 would roll back labor protections, making it easier for employers to reduce or eliminate overtime pay.

Reinstate Trump’s overtime rule, stripping 4 million middle-class workers of overtime protections.

Require remote employees to work 10 hours per day instead of 8 before earning overtime pay.

Prevent benefits from being factored into overtime calculations.

Allow employers to calculate overtime over four weeks instead of one, reducing compensation for workers. (pp. 587, 589, 592)

They will reinstate full student loan payments.

Project 2025 would reinstate student debt payments and eliminate many loan forgiveness programs.

The next administration must stop loan forgiveness abuses. Borrowers should be expected to repay their loans. (p. 322)

The Secretary of Education should phase out all existing income-driven repayment plans by preventing new loans from qualifying. (pp. 337-38)

If legislative changes are possible, there should be no loan forgiveness. Under existing law, forgiveness would only be available after 25 years of repayment. (pp. 337-38)

Project 2025 would shift economic advantages to the wealthy while cutting worker protections, weakening Social Security, and increasing financial burdens on middle-class families.
